🌺 Remembering
This week, we’ve been encouraged to pause and remember those who gave their lives in service of our country. The act of remembering helps keep them and their stories alive.
This made me reflect on the people I’ve lost who have shaped the person I have become.
🎹 My piano teacher - A warm, loving person who inspired my love of yoga and music. I never once heard him criticise me and yet somehow I developed hugely through my lessons with him. He unwittingly taught me the power of focusing on strengths to help others grow.
☕ My grandparents - They lived through the Second World War and shared vivid stories of doodlebugs, bombings, and rushing to shelters. Despite it all, they were always welcoming, grateful, and full of love. Their example reminds me to stay grounded in gratitude, even in tough times.
🎶 My uncle - A gentle, intelligent man who showed interest in my life. I didn’t realise how a conversation that we had had about Nina Simone years ago had quietly woven itself into my teaching for years. I wish I had been able to share with him the impact that this had had on me.
All this has made me think about impact - how others have shaped me, and how I want to be remembered.
As a coach - I hope I will be remembered as someone who helped others see what’s possible for themselves
