How organised are you, both in your business and personal life ?
Do you micro-manage everything down to the last detail / minute, or do you just wing it as you go along through the day ?
I must admit that I am usually extremely well organised. I am a bit of a control freak, so I easily panic and worry if I don't know what is about to happen, either in my business or private life.
I am currently micro-planning our next short holiday. In just under 2 weeks time, we want to drive the North Coast 500 route in Scotland (I’ve never been further north than Dundee before, and that was only for a couple of days to visit my brother when he lived there in the mid ‘90s).
Although making a list of all the sights to photograph and walks to go on is easy, I am really struggling to book accommodation for each night in advance. So we are going to throw caution to the wind, and simply drive up to Inverness, then try to find a Bed & Breakfast every evening wherever we happen to be at about 6:00 pm that day.
We will also be doing this trip (well over 1800 miles) in one of our classic cars (yet to be decided, either our 1977 Leyland Princess 2200, 1980 Austin Maxi 1750, 1994 Rover Metro or – if it passes its MOT later today – our 1986 Austin Maestro 1.6 Vanden Plas).
Does this scare me ?? YOU BET IT DOES !!!
I am not worried about any potential issues with whichever car we use, because they are all in excellent condition and nothing like as unreliable as their reputation has it. But I am very worried about where we will be sleeping each night.
Do I have a solution ?? OF COURSE I DO. We will also pack a small tent, inflatable mattress and sleeping bags in the car, in case we can only find a campsite any evening (or worst case scenario, we might even have to try to sleep in the car).
What is worrying you at the moment, and do you have a plan B as a backup ?
