A common denominator that we see in a lot of businesses is the lack of management and leadership training. It sounds like a beautiful thing to have but actually, it’s probably one of the most important things that you can do for your business. 👩🏽💼
Look at it this way, you invest in HR strategies, well-being, and retention programs however your managers i’m not aware of what your overall business strategies are therefore won’t align with these which means that subsequently your other strategies completely fail ❌
For example, if there are bad relationships between a team and HR has implemented a new recognition strategy.
It is likely that there will be bias and favouritism when applying the rewards to individual. This has the opposite effect of engaging the workforce as they become increasingly frustrated due to the lack of transparency, then they lose faith and trust in HR. 🚦
From a 2022 HR Habitat Ltd workplace study (and other studies that have been done over the years) we know that the number one reason why people leave their jobs is due to bad management. There is a question mark around what is perceived as a “bad manager” and we’re not saying here that manages MUST behave in the exact way that their subordinates expect them to. Not at all. It simply means that manages need better guidance + coaching in bringing the best out of the talent and strength of their team which benefits their department as well as the business overall. Who doesn’t want that? 🤷🏽♀️
