Summary
Lionel is a Managing Associate in the life sciences team of Mathys & Squire. He works on a wide variety of technical subjects, with a particular focus on the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry and life sciences. Lionel acts for UK and overseas biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients, academic institutions, start-ups and SMEs in patent matters including patent drafting and international prosecution. He has worked in technology transfer within a university environment, having spent time at a large university-based technology transfer and commercialisation company in London.

Lionel has considerable patent drafting and global prosecution experience. He is also experienced at handling opposition proceedings before the EPO, and also has experience with appeal proceedings before the High Court and the Court of Appeal in the UK. In addition, he provides both freedom to operate and validity advice.
